Teen Mom
Our daughter had gone through a rough patch as a middle school child. It was very traumatic for us to go through it, but the result was our beloved grandson, Kaleb. I took this image soon after Becca came home after giving birth. She was a changed woman, a parent with a mother's instincts. In this painting I wanted to show her strength in her arm protecting her newborn. I also wanted to contrast it with the peaceful pose. I thought she is finally at rest. Kaleb saved her and she is resting. The patterns of the couch and clothes celebrate the new life of her baby boy and her new life as a mother. I wanted it to look like love.
