Three Simultaneous Events

I call this painting "Three Simultaneous Events" because the clouds have just parted to illuminate the scene of white birds happening by just as a wave reaches it's crest. I see these serendipitous events all the time, but seldom can capture them. This one I made with three photographs. I was working with acrylic which dries very quickly, so I build up the mist with many layers of transparent gray, tan, and green. Then put in the waves and birds with white and black overpainting finishing with even more layers of transparent gray.
